Ingredients & Inspiration

Before I get into these Feel Good Juices I’m gonna be real with y’all… I’ve never juiced in my life up until about 3 weeks ago. And gosh darnit I’ve been missing out! I’ve always been a smoothie girl because, let’s face it, smoothies are more filling, contain all the fibre and can practically be a meal replacement on busy mornings. But sometimes I’ve found smoothies to make me feel a little sloshy in my tummy, you know what I mean?

So when Hurom sent me their H70 Slow Juicer to try out at home I was thrilled to see how my gut reacted to fresh juices! Spoiler: my body loves juices! And yours probably will, too. I feel a little more energized, less bloated and like my skin is clearer! Fresh, cold-pressed juices contain very highly concentrated amounts of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that are so good for you!

So after a couple weeks of experimenting with different juicing flavours and combinations, I’ve settled on my first few Feel Good Juices that I’m loving: Carrot Apple Cabbage, Beet Watermelon, and Tropical Green juice.

Carrot Apple Cabbage
  • 4 large carrots
  • 2 large apples
  • ¼ large green cabbage
  • 1″ piece of ginger
Beet Watermelon
  • 2 small or 1 large beet
  • 3 large carrots
  • 1 cup watermelon chunks
  • 1 large apple
Tropical Green
  • ¼ pineapple
  • 5 celery stalks
  • 4 large kale leaves
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 2 limes

Benefits of Juicing

There are numerous benefits to juicing, including increasing nutrient intake, aiding digestion, and potentially supporting certain health conditions. Juices can help you get a larger dose of vitamins and minerals, especially if you’re not frequently eating whole fruits and vegetables. Juicing can also be beneficial for folks with digestive sensitivities, as it reduces the fibre content of the fruits and vegetables, making them easier to digest.

  • Carrot Apple Cabbage: Carrots can improve eye and skin health, and cabbage can help improve digestion
  • Beet Watermelon: high in antioxidants and nitrates from beets, which can improve cardiovascular health and athletic performance
  • Tropical Green: Celery juice can improve inflammation, plus kale, pineapple and limes are a nutrient absorption trio of iron and vitamin C

How to Make Feel Good Juices

If you’ve got a great juicer, making fresh juices is literally as simple as cutting your produce into chunks, and running through your juicer. Voilà! Fresh juice in minutes.

  1. Prepare your produce by removing and flawed tops or bottoms, skins and rinds. Cut them into 2 to 3 inch chunks and place them in the hopper of your juicer.
  2. Turn on the juicer and let it process the produce. Once the juice chamber is full, open the juice release valve into the juice cup. Repeat until all produce is processed. Enjoy your delicious juice!

Sip, Sip, Hooray

The best part about juicing is that you don’t need specific recipes to get incredible juice. You can even just juice one item and call it a day. In fact, that’s the best way to get into drinking fresh juices, because then you know what one-ingredient juices taste like and can play around with what your favourite ingredient combinations can be.
