Ingredients & Inspiration

Chunks of frozen mango in a food processor

Mango season is one of my all-time favorite food seasons, so when I’ve bought two 10-pound cases of fresh mango and then realize I *may* have gone overboard, I know exactly how to make sure none of these juicy gems don’t go to waste: I chop ‘em and freeze ‘em, and transform them into this simply irresistible 4-ingredient healthy Mango Sorbet!

What you’ll need

  • Frozen mango chunks
  • Maple syrup or other liquid sweetener
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Canned coconut milk

Why We Love Mango Sorbet

In case you haven’t noticed, food prices have become pretty pricey these days practically anywhere you go. This includes things like frozen treats and ice creams. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard sometimes to justify spending $7 on a tiny pint of ice cream or sorbet when I can make something just as satisfying at home for a fraction of the price… and likely a lot healthier for me too!

Making your own Mango Sorbet is one of the best treats for a few reasons:

  1. It uses only 4 simple and relatively inexpensive ingredients (usually larger bags of frozen fruit are a better value than the smaller ones)
  2. It only takes 5 minutes to whip up and you don’t need an ice cream maker
  3. It’s a healthy treat with no refined sugars or weird ingredients that you can’t pronounce
  4. It’s incredibly delicious and customizable to your liking — mix in other frozen fruits or even fresh mint for a unique spin!

How to Make Mango Sorbet

  1. Add all the ingredients into a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until thick, smooth and creamy.
  2. Spoon into bowls and add optional toppings like toasted coconut or fresh mint leaves and enjoy! (For a thicker, more frozen texture you can transfer to a loaf tin and freeze for 1 to 2 hours before serving).

Summery Mango Heaven

This 4-ingredient healthy Mango Sorbet is such a refreshing a yummy summer treat, plus it’s a total no-brainer way to use up surplus fresh mangoes you may have on hand. We say no to food waste and yes to abundant seasonal summer fruit! You could also swap out or mix in other frozen fruits like cantaloupe, pineapple or strawberries for different and interesting flavor profiles.
